About

Hello and welcome! My name is Sïgrid and I am a professionally-trained civil celebrant, living with my family and two dogs, in the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders. With seafaring roots in Aberdeenshire and Shetland, our home in Peebles may not have a sea-view, but it has become a haven for me, and I love the variety of beautiful riverside and woodland walks on my doorstep.
For me, working as a celebrant is an extension of the way that I formulated my artwork during the 6 years I spent in the silversmithing departments at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, then the Royal College of Art in London. I love to gather information; to explore a theme; to research beautiful words, images or concepts and then to pull the threads of an idea together into an elegantly worked piece.
Calm, caring, thoughtful and intuitive, I take a genuine interest in the lives, histories and passions of people that I meet. Something within my Celebrant training allowed me to reconnect with my 20-something self; this work allows me to embrace my creativity with optimism and an open-heart. My design training instilled into me a passion for attention to detail and it would be my honour to craft for you the unique ceremony of your dreams.
