Crafting Unique Celebrations
Welcome
Hello and welcome! My name is Sïgrid and I am a professionally-trained civil celebrant, living with my family and two dogs, in the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders. With seafaring roots in Aberdeenshire and Shetland, our home in Peebles may not have a sea-view, but it has become a haven for me, and I love the variety of beautiful riverside and woodland walks on my doorstep.
For me, working as a celebrant is an extension of the way that I formulated my artwork during the 6 years I spent in the silversmithing departments at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, then the Royal College of Art in London. I love to gather information; to explore a theme; to research beautiful words, images or concepts and then to pull the threads of an idea together into an elegantly worked piece.
Calm, caring, thoughtful and intuitive, I take a genuine interest in the lives, histories and passions of people that I meet. Something within my Celebrant training allowed me to reconnect with my 20-something self; this work allows me to embrace my creativity with optimism and an open-heart. My design training instilled into me a passion for attention to detail and it would be my honour to craft for you the unique ceremony of your dreams.

Why choose an Independent Celebrant?
A celebration led by an Independent Celebrant allows for infinite variety of choice. Similar in position to a Humanist Celebrant, we are trained to be highly professional in our practice, but are not bound by a specific belief system, therefore we can include a religious prayer or hymn, if this is your preference, leading to a ceremony that is truly centred around your choices.
The laws in Scotland (at present) prevent Independent Celebrants from legally marrying you. However, you can arrange for a Council Registrar to conduct a short legal registration of marriage with two witnesses (known as a 2+2), in order to complete the legal paperwork.
You are then free to enjoy the wedding day of your dreams – the celebration that you have worked on with your Celebrant to make completely personal to you as a couple, without constraints on time, location or creativity.
I am able to create and carry out other ceremonies at your request. Please feel free to contact me if you have ideas that you wish to discuss further.

Testimonials
Sigrid creates a beautifully unique service. Her warmth and compassion shine through in the work she does. Always thoughtful and sensitive to the situation, Sigrid is a good listener who brings emotional intelligence and gentle humour to her work as celebrant. She has an enviable attention to detail which shows up beautifully in the ceremonies she creates.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her as a celebrant.
Sigrid is a caring, calm and gentle lady who listens carefully and patiently and puts you at ease immediately. I recently listened to a beautiful eulogy that Sigrid had created for the family of a lovely man who had passed away at a young age. She dealt with this particularly sad story in a way that enabled us all to recall wonderful memories of the happy life he had led, the love and respect held for him and the positive impact he had upon so many people. The ceremony was a great comfort to his family.
Sigrid has the most beautiful, calming voice and caring nature that result in a beautiful, unique ceremony to commemorate your loved one.
